OVERVIEW
What you need to know
The total Canadian oil production is about 5 million barrels per day which close to 1.8 million barrels per day of this production comes from conventical crude, pentanes and condensate. Although the conventional production doesn’t have the steep production growth of 70s, it has remained steady for the last four decades and will continue to contribute as a significant sector of Canadian oil and gas industry. Primary production of many of major conventional oil reservoirs have come to maturity and are either under secondary and tertiary recovery or ready for EOR applications. The newly developed conventional oil resources are relatively small in volumes. A well-designed reservoir management with efficient primary depletion plan and EOR consideration is critical in economical exploitation of these reservoirs. The unconventional resources (coal gas, shale gas, tight sands and carbonates gas, gas hydrates and light tight oil) development from the other hand had a very steep growth in the last two decades. With use of horizontal drilling and fracturing techniques, exploitation of these resources has become attractive and economical. Unlike the conventional, the unconventional reservoirs have an entirely different decline behaviors and performance prediction for such resources required special techniques.
Lynx Petroleum Technologies provides a wide range of expertise on primary and EOR operations. Our consulting services for conventional and unconventional applications includes:
- Material balance modeling and resource estimation
- Well testing and decline curve analysis for conventional and unconventional oil and gas reservoirs
