What you need to know

Canada has the third largest oil reserve in the world and yet has the most challenging reservoirs for oil exploitation. Majority of Canada’s oil reserves are the heavy oil resources in Alberta with an estimated 2 trillion barrels of oil in-place. Various recovery technologies for each specific reservoir have been developed to exploit Alberta’s heavy oil. To date, only less than 1% of this resource has been produced by the proven technologies. The Alberta’s oil industry will continue to exploit this source of energy for decades to come. Currently Alberta’s heavy oil production is about 3.2 million barrels per day and is expected to double over the next two decades. The industry growth however is challenged by high cost of development and environmental impacts. The thermal in-situ recovery operations are energy intensive with high GHG emission and water usage. The industry is striving to enhance its economic performance by improving energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact by lowering GHG emission.

Lynx Petroleum Technologies provide its expertise to help the industry in its endeavor for improvement. We can help to assess your resource and recovery process and recommend the best solution to enhance the operation and environmental efficiencies.
